Mobile vascular ultrasound is a medical imaging technique that uses sound waves to create images of blood vessels and the flow of blood within them. It is a non-invasive procedure that helps healthcare professionals evaluate the health and function of blood vessels throughout the body. The "mobile" aspect refers to the capability of bringing the ultrasound equipment to the patient's location, whether that's a hospital, clinic, home or other healthcare facility.

 How vascular ultrasound works

1. Sound Waves: During a vascular ultrasound, a handheld device called a transducer is used to emit high-frequency sound waves into the body. These sound waves bounce off the blood vessels and tissues, creating echoes.

2. Echoes and Image Formation: The echoes are captured by the transducer and converted into images by a computer. The computer processes the echoes and creates real-time images of the blood vessels and blood flow. These images are displayed on a monitor and can be recorded for further analysis.

3. Types of Vascular Ultrasound: Mobile vascular ultrasound can be used to examine various types of blood vessels, including arteries and veins. It can provide valuable information about blood flow, blockages, narrowing (stenosis), blood clots, and other abnormalities. Some common types of vascular ultrasound studies include:

· Carotid Doppler Ultrasound: Evaluates blood flow in the carotid arteries of the neck, which supply blood to the brain.

· Venous Ultrasound: Examines the veins in the arms and legs to detect blood clots (DVT) or other issues (as Venous Insufficiency).

· Arterial Ultrasound: Assesses blood flow in the arteries and can identify narrowing or blockages ( PAD).

· Abdominal Aortic Ultrasound: Focuses on the aorta and its branches within the abdomen to detect aneurysms or other abnormalities.

· Renal Artery Disease: Mobile vascular ultrasound can evaluate blood flow to the kidneys and detect any abnormalities.

· Assessment of Dialysis Access: It is used to monitor and assess the function of arteriovenous (AV) fistulas or grafts used for hemodialysis.

Doppler Ultrasound: Measures the speed and direction of blood flow, helping to detect conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and peripheral artery disease (PAD).
